Union Valley Reservoir - El Dorado County, California

Visited on 6/22/2017 – Picture taken on a Saturday  from our boat out in the middle of the lake with Jeff and our dogs, Summer and Skye and our good friend, Matt Salisbury.  The reservoir spans 2,575 acre feet lake at 4,870 feet above sea level and located 20 miles northeast of Placerville, California.  Union Valley Reservoir is lined with pine and fir forests and is fed by Big Silver Creek, Jones Fork Silver Creek, Tells Creek, Wench Creek and the outflows of Robbs Peak and Jones Fork powerhouses.  The United States Forest Service maintains the two launch ramps on the lake and it is a great relaxing lake for boating and we saw several sailboats and folks on kayaks on the water.

While enjoying the afternoon in a shady cove on the southeast end of the lake near Jones Fork Campground several Canada geese (As Matt clarified, not Canadian Geese, but Canada Geese) came up to the boat for a visit and our dog, Summer was very curious but did not jump out of the boat and try to retrieve any of them.  The geese just wanted a treat!  Jeff, Matt and I really enjoyed a calm, peaceful day on the Lake with the boat.  It was very relaxing.

Lots of snow still up on those Sierra Mountains in Northern California.
